Warren Spector and his new dev house Junction Point might not be blabbing fully about its first, top secret project yet, but it's emerged that the studio has signed a deal with Vivendi.
Reported in Game Developer magazine, the publisher is obviously happy to let Spector's creative juices flow and supports his plan for an experience that's very much story-driven.
"You don't want to know how many projects I've been told to 'just go make a shooter.' I had one publisher tell me 'you're not
Is the PC taking another bullet to the chest as a feature that was unique to the platform is now spreading to console?
Epic Games vice president Mark Rein dropped an interesting little bombshell the other day concerning Unreal Tournament 3 and modifications, game reworks - and often labors of love - developed by third-parties and bedroom coders that have kept PC titles alive for years after
Epic Games has announced that it will use Streamline Studios' 3D content service solutions for its upcoming sequel Unreal Tournament 3.
As it did with Gears of War, Streamline will provide game-ready digital content for the shooter, which is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
"Streamline Studios is one of our key external providers of digital content for Epic. We're pleased with the great content they've provided for games such as Gears of War and the Unreal Tournament
Ultra-realistic tactical shooters may have taken center-stage in recent years, but Unreal Tournament 3 proves there's still demand for brutal, flag snatching deathmatch amongst PC gamers, and with Epic Games' strengthened investment in console versions - no doubt fuelled by a certain 360 shooter that recently found success - rocket-flinging frag fests may become king of the couch again as well.
Last week we sat down with UT3 producer and all-round good guy Jeff Morris to chat-up the
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be the title of developer Naughty Dog's impressive PS3 jungle-set actioner, which wowed onlookers at E3 last year with an exciting trailer and looks to promise a heady blend of shooting, stealthing and platforming thrills.
The previously unreleased title was revealed both in a slew of newly registered Sony patents and on the resume of Naughty Dog's creative director Daniel Arey, who also works as an instructor for the University of Southern California School of
Epic games hasn't ruled out exclusive patch content for the console versions of Unreal Tournament 3, producer Jeff Morris has revealed in an interview with our sister site, computerandvideogames.com.
Morris told CVG that while UT3 will have the same content and likely be "the same sort of size" on PC and consoles, exclusive content could come in patches.
"While we want all of the versions to be the same that's not to say we won't do exclusive patches for each platform and that would enable us
Sega just dropped us a line about an ensuing battle that makes our piddly Middle Eastern flare ups look like sissy slap-fights. Lucky for gamers, bad for the cosmos, Universe at War: Earth Assault is exactly what it sounds like: Epic Galactic Warfare.
This combat intensive real-time strategy game's most noteworthy feature is the Tactical Dynamics system, allowing players the ability to customize and retrain troops in the midst of battle. If this combat intensive offering hasn't already grabbed
When we interviewed them, Epic Games refused to commit to a 2007 launch date for the hotly anticipated UT3. They explained that by changing the game's name - which used to be Unreal Tournament 2007 - they would no longer be forced into releasing the new UT this year.
"We hope we're going to ship it at the end of this year," Epic producer Jeff Morris told us at Midway's recent Las Vegas-based event, "but if the game's not done, we're not going to ship it." Morris explained changing the name

There's a bit of new and old Unreal Tournament flavour in these latest images from Epic's multiplayer-focused work in progress UT3, as we get a look at the squid-like Necris Fury fighters in action (below) and are reacquainted with the gloop-firing bio rifle (hit the images tab above).
UT3 boasts an already impressive array of weapons, vehicles and game modes and is by far the most ambitious Unreal Tournament to date, but with a release planned for the second half of

Epic Games, the developer behind the bloody brilliant Gears of War, has announced that Unreal Tournament 2007 will be settling in for some searing shooter action on Xbox 360 in addition to the previously announced battlegrounds of PS3 and PC.
The game has also undergone a name change, now bearing the altogether more compact moniker UT3, and is expected to hit its chosen trio of platforms sometime in the second half of 2007.
However, Epic Games producer Jeff Morris told
