Alien Vs Predator 2 gets a director - or two

Who wants to see more from the Alien Vs Predator movies? Anyone? The first film certainly had its fans - after all, it scored at the box office to the tune of $169 million worldwide.

So we weren’t all that surprised when the sequel was announced, by 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman. "We will do another one of those for sure. It was a big success," Rothman told Variety. "In the new Alien Vs Predator they will finally actually really come to our world."

Well, when they do “actually really come to our world”, they’ll have a script – written by Armageddon’s Shane Salerno, who was responsible for at least one draft of the original AVP script. And the creatures will have a director.

Make that directors – brothers Greg and Colin Strause have been hired to crank the cameras on the sequel. You might not know their name, but you know their work – they’ve directed a load of music videos and adverts and their special effects company has been responsible for work on the likes of The Day After Tomorrow, Titanic and X-Men: The Last Stand.

"We really want to take it back to the original Alien and Predator films and make a serious, gritty horror film," Colin Strause blabs to Variety. "We want to take it back to its roots, without losing sight of the human struggle," adds Greg Strause. "That's what made the originals so good."

We can but hope…
