Adam Sandler reads Bedtime Stories

Despite his continued efforts to get serious with the likes of Punch-Drunk Love and Reign Over Me, Adam Sandler still needs to pay the mortgage. And his bread and butter have always been very silly – or schmaltzy – comedies.

He’s back in funny town for Bedtime Stories, which will mark his first ever Disney movie (not counting films he’s made for Touchstone). With a Christmas 2008 release looming, the film finds a busy real estate developer whose life is thrown into chaos when the stories he tells his niece and nephew start to come true.

It all sounds like a recipe for standard Sandler fare, and that feeling is boosted by the presence of journeyman comedy helmer Adam Shankman, who will work on the movie after finishing up Hairspray.

Meanwhile, Sandler will next attempt to bring the funny with I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry this summer, and is about to start work on You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, about a Mossad agent who fakes his death so he can move to New York and become a hair stylist. Yeah, that old story…
