505 Games has announced a sequel to 2005's critically acclaimed WWII long-range shooter, Sniper Elite. Arriving next year, Sniper Elite V2 (Electric Boogaloo?) will be handled by the series' original studio, Rebellion Developments, and add a modern slant to its third person tactical shooter formula.
“It’s very exciting to be working with one of the new breed of major publishers like 505 Games,” said Rebellion's co-founder Jason Kingsley. “Sniper Elite was an important, genre-defining property and we’re hoping to have even greater success by teaming up with the talented guys at 505.”
Sniper Elite won ‘Best PC/Console Game’ at the TIGA awards and, more importantly, received a high score from GR's own crack team of virtual marksman.

That was six years ago, and the genre has become a lot more crowded since. Nevertheless, the UK studio's other co-founder, Chris Kingsley, is optimistic for Sniper Elite V2's chances, saying, “Guaranteed that the sequel will be the most authentic WW2 sniping experience ever, not just in terms of weapon ballistics, but also in delivering the heart-pulsing tension of those do or die moments where one shot really does matter.”
10 bucks says they'll use Eminem's Lose Yourself for the trailer music.
