50 Most Unintentionally Hilarious Movies Of All Time

Deadly Prey (1986)

The Hilarious Movie: Ted Prior stars as Mike Danton, a Vietnam vet who finds himself at odds with a group of crooked mercenaries. Imagine a low-rent version of Rambo 2 , in which the hero spends an inordinate amount of time capering around in his underwear, and you're halfway there.

Funniest Moment:
A sparsely clad Danton dodges a hail of tank fire, before scaling the vehicle, dropping a grenade inside and standing by to admire his handiwork.

The Happening (2008)

The Hilarious Movie: Mark Wahlberg plays the world's least convincing science teacher in this tale of mass suicide brought on by a huffy Mother Nature. Yep, that's actually the plot! Cue all manner of ridiculous lemming-like behaviour, including the memorable sight of a man being shredded by his own lawnmower.

Funniest Moment: Betty Buckley crops up to deliver the sublimely silly one-liner, "why you eyein' my lemon drink?" Why indeed.

Taffin (1988)

The Hilarious Movie: Pierce Brosnan is on irrepressible form as an Irish debt collector hired to stop an evil corporation from building a chemical plant in a sleepy backwoods village. Needless to say, the leading man turns it up to eleven from the word go and never looks back. Even Nic Cage would blush at some of his scenes!

Funniest Moment: "What goes on in this town is none of your business," drawls Brosnan to a ladyfriend. "As long as I'm living here, it is," comes her reply. "THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BE LIVING HEEEEERE!" booms Pierce. YouTube it. It really is incredible.

Masters Of The Universe (1987)

The Hilarious Movie: Dolph Lundgren takes on chiselled sword-swinger He-Man in this comically inept adaptation of the well-loved character. Everything from Dolph's accent to the bizarre proliferation of laser-guns is hilarious, as is Frank Langella's Power Rangers -esque appearance as Skeletor.

Funniest Moment: Skeletor's head pops out of the lava pit at the film's close, in time to growl "I'll be back" into the camera. We're still waiting...

The Thing With Two Heads (1972)

The Hilarious Movie: We'll let the trailer voiceover do the talking for us: "It seemed like a good idea at the time… the white bigot was dying and the black soul brother needed more time to prove his innocence. So they transplanted the white head onto the black body. Who would have suspected that neither would care for the idea too much?"

Funniest Moment: Take your pick from any of the horribly stilted exchanges between our conjoined pals. They might share a body… but they sure as hell don't share any chemistry.

Battlefield Earth (2000)

The Hilarious Movie: The famously catastrophic adaptation of one of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's tedious sci-fi doorstops, in which humanity has gone to hell in a handcart on account of over-reaching "psychologists and brain surgeons" (L. Ron's words, not ours). John Travolta has never been worse.

Funniest Moment:
Travolta's weirdly camp giggle, designed to intimidate a wretched human, is a recurring pleasure throughout the film, particularly when he follows it up with a reedy, "oh, you're too much!"

Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)

The Hilarious Movie: Ed Wood's famously dreadful sci-fi is a collection of laughable effects, clunky dialogue and cringe-worthy delivery… so much so, that its a veritable riot from start to finish. Oft referred to as the worst movie ever made, it's nothing if not entertaining.

Funniest Moment: Lieutenant Harper demonstrates his back to basics approach to police work with the following "no shit" summary of the situation as he sees it: "One thing's sure… Inspector Clay's dead. Murdered. And somebody's responsible."

The Room (2003)

The Hilarious Movie: Described as "the Citizen Kane of bad movies" by Entertainment Weekly , this staggeringly amateurish melodrama could be mistaken for a spoof, were it not for the reports from various cast and crew-members insisting that the project was deadly serious. Writer / director / star, Tommy Wiseau has a lot to answer for.

Funniest Moment: The truly bizarre rooftop scene, in which Tommy's pal Mark can be found sitting alone, "just thinking". So begins one of the most stilted conversations you could ever hope to witness.

Birdemic (2010)

The Hilarious Movie: An avian-centric disaster movie made on a shoestring budget, employing some of the worst CGI imaginable. Better still, it's played entirely straight by its long-suffering cast. Optimistically described as a "romantic thriller" by director James Nguyen, it's picked up a suitably masochistic cult following.

Funniest Moment: Five extremely angry birds hover above our heroes as the most ludicrously protracted case of struggling to unlock a car door plays out beneath them. The constant screeching only adds to the sense of hysteria!

The Wicker Man (2006)

The Hilarious Movie: Neil LaBute's misguided remake of the British horror classic, in which the director loses control of Nic Cage very early in proceedings, leading to one of the most deliriously OTT performances in mainstream movie history. You will believe that a giant bear has every right to lay out a middle-aged housewife.

Funniest Moment: Apart from the aforementioned bear-costumed fists of fury, it has to be the bees. "Waaargh, they're in my eyeeeeees!"
