Nintendo has unveiled its second quarter 3DS and Wii lineup. Its biggest draw? A re-mastered version of a game released in 1998! Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will be released on June 19. With such a mediocre 3DS launch lineup, we're a little surprised that neither Kid Icarus nor Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D were mentioned. Perhaps they'll come in July?
Official Nintendo Magazine is celebrating the success of the Nintendo 3DS console with a world-first interactive cover created with the help of its readers. On sale 14th April, the next issue features the best 100 readers’ Miis on a special gatefold cover, selected from the thousands sent in by committed Nintendo fans via the magazine's website.
Best bit? You can get hold of any of them you like for your own 3DS, thanks to the eldritch magic of the handheld's QR code scanning function.

I've been saying it for ages. Augmented reality has a major part to play in the future of handheld gaming. With GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and cameras in our mobile phones, the potential for blurring our real-world exploration with our gaming is a thrillingly exciting no-brainer. Why the iPhone isn't absolutely flooded with shooters, RPGs and adventure games laid over real-world locations I do not understand. Fortunately though, Nintendo has already cemented AR gaming as a core pillar of the 3DS experience by installing a stack of it onto the console out of the box.
And now we have the announcement of the first, full-size third party edition. And things are (hopefully) going to get really spooky.
