Activision has announced that its upcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time will
feature updated Spider-Man suit designs featured
in the recently launched Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man series. Bridging the gap
between the Spidey who'll turn 50 next year and the newer, dark 'n' edgier
Ultimate Comics version who debuted last month, today’s new assets prove beyond
a doubt that Spider-Man is packing some heat. Just look at that pants bulge!...
A Tokyo Game Show demo of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, or Kingdom Hearts 3D (get it?!),
features the series’ first ever appearance of a non-Final Fantasy/Disney character.
Oh, the geeky possibilities…
Nintendo released the first batch of images for Monster Hunter 3G, a 3DS remake
of Monster Hunter Tri. Announced during Nintendo’s TGS 2011 press conference, 3G
will be the first Monster Hunter game in 3D, but Capcom confirmed that you may
not get much hands-on time with the game because it's being planned as a
Japan-only release for the time being. This is understandable as the Monster
Hunter franchise - while huge in Japan - has never managed to catch on in western
ought to visit the Flickr gallery of Ty Lettau, aka SoundofDesign, aka the man
whose quiet task over the last few months has been to perform a graphical
demake of... well, basically, all of pop culture since before you were born.
Starting with the basic sprites for Mario and Mega Man, Lettau's
magnum opus consists of 835 works of pixel-art, between them making credible
NES sprites of a widely diverse cast of characters. Spider-man? Yes, of course.
Hellraiser's Pinhead? Why yes. The core cast of The Big Lebowski? Again – look,
it's easier if you just look for yourself...
has released some new screenshots for Beyond the Labyrinth, its upcoming
dungeon-crawler RPG. Konami will be publishing the title, with development
handled by tri-Ace, the 15-year-old Tokyo studio best known in the west for its
Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile series. While many have dubbed Beyond the
Labyrinth “Ico for 3DS,”owing to
the title's ethereal look and superficially Yorda-esque protagonist, we can’t
really say that it looks like a clone of Sony’s classic...
had a good few hours to get used to the idea of Nintendo's 3DS slide-pad, so let's take a look at one of the first
titles confirmed to take advantage of the peripheral: Konami's 3D remake of
modern classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. A few new screens for the game confirm
that there are lots of jungles in Snake Eater and they'll look just fine on 3DS.
Beyond that, there's also a look at the game's gyroscope balancing acts,
another glimpse of the skydiving sequence, and a logo that's not messing
It appears we weren’t the only ones underwhelmed by
Nintendo’s pre-Tokyo Game Show 3DS press conference. After revealing only a smattering
of updates, release dates, and plans for a Myst Pink edition of its handheld, Nintendo’s stock slipped by 5%...
Capcom's latest announcement revealed
Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine wouldn't be the only survivors in Resident
Evil Revelations, so we were ready for anything in the latest batch of
screenshots from this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Well, the enigmatic woman in the
low-cut combat shirt and shaggy-dog bangs isn't here. What we do have, are
conveniently placed shotguns and images that appear to have moved away from the
wrecked ocean liner featured in most Revelations coverage so far. The setting
has shifted and back into the game's primary area: Europe, where (we now know)
a monster could lurk behind any of the many hardcover classics lining the
horrifying halls of Resident Evil Revelations…
Fantasy Theatrhythm, a rhythm game featuring characters from Final Fantasy I
through XIII, started making noise in July.
Following the release of the 3DS title’s first gameplay footage, comes a new batch of official screens. They're
from a partially translated version of the game, so the menus are still
Japanese, but other text is in English. In the modern tradition of FF games,
both parts might be difficult to understand, but take a look anyway…
Nintendo had mixed news for Kid Icarus:
Uprising hopefuls during its TGS 2011 press event. After dropping a new
gameplay trailers for the 3DS title, Nintendo revealed the game's launch will
be preceded by a series of 3D animations based on the franchise, which will be
available for free via Nintendo's Video service. That was the good news. The
bad? Nintendo confirmed that Pit's revival has been pushed back to 2012 across
the globe, and not just in Europe as previously planned.
Nintendo did not
offer a revised release date for Kid Icarus: Uprising or its promotional anime
videos. However, the latter will be produced in association with Production
I.G. (Ghost in the Shell), Studio 4C (Catherine) and Shaft (Negima)…
