  • Many criticize Nintendo as being behind in the technological race, but did you know the Gamecube actually had "3D-compatible circuitry built in" during development? The only problem is that Nintendo never used it...

  • We rather like Oliver Taylor. Maybe it's his dedication to the cause of arranging old video game tunes for playing via the medium of different old video games. Maybe it's the fact that he's rather funny. Or maybe it's because he understands that anything is hilarious if you do it with a look of unblinking, murderous intensity on your face.

Whatever the reason, this amused us this morning, so we thought we'd pass it on to you. There is no deeper meaning than that, nor does there need to be.

  • Above: Find out the secret behind the ‘Cat Gate’ scandal

As a diehard cat person, I’m pleased to see the inclusion of cats in Nintendogs + Cats, an exciting Nintendo 3DS launch title, which I’m sure I’ll never play. But how exactly did felines find their way into the latest entry in the canine-centric series? The answer may surprise you...

  • The DS and DS Lite are not region locked, but the DSi and DSi XL are, and it appears that the 3DS will also be restricted by geopolitical boundaries. A user support e-mail from Nintendo, which was translated by a poster on NeoGAF, states clearly that 3DS units will use region codes...

  • Yes, it's only the first half of the first month of the year, but we're already talking about the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Scheduled to take place June 7 to June 9 in LA, we're not really sure what to expect from E3 this year, but we do already have a list of some of the big players that'll be there...

  • Great news for fans of casual exercise and unlockable in-game content! In addition to ushering a new age of 3D portable gaming, the Nintendo 3DS will also use its built-in pedometer to promote active lifestyles by rewarding its mobile users with “Game Coins” that can be used to purchase bonus content for participating 3DS titles...

  • Nintendo is working hard with manufacturers to ensure there are more than enough 3DS systems to go around when it launches later this year. If you attempted to buy a Wii at any time during its first six months of availability, you'll understand why...

  • First out-of-the-screen 3DS panty shot confirmed by new trailer.

  • Could it be? Is a small, plucky handheld about to single-hand(held)edly pluck the Resident Evil franchise from the mire of overblown, bloated action-game identity crisis and make it properly scary and good again? I might be making a huge "2 + 2 = nine million" assumption based off naught but a short clip of gameplay from the upcoming 3DS game and a few comments promising old school horror from people trying to sell me said game, but goddamnit, after the slog of oversized biceps and underfun bosses that was Resi 5, I'm willing to grab onto anything.

What do we have here then, in this new video from the recent NIntendo World 3DS event? We have footage of Jill in dark, empty corridors. We have taut scenes of non-specific blood spill. We have fake-out jump scares. We have a lot of darkness and some very atmospheric torchlight illumination. And then, just as we're about to deliberately poop ourselves simply to relieve the tension, something very similar to Resi 4's Iron Maidens turns up.

The poop, it doth flow over unrestrained

  • Don't worry, the game itself looks to 'run' just fine. But the same can't be said for its protagonist, Pitt. Who gave the go-ahead for this running animation? Or rather, both these running animations. Kid Icarus runs like a... well, giraffe is the kind word, but we had some more colourful alternatives in our meeting this morning. It's like a child pretending to be a horse. And even the sprint makes his legs look about twice as long as they should be. Observe:
