A New Yorker who apparently doesn't have anything else to do has become the first person to wait outside Best Buy for the Sunday launch of the 3DS. It had to be someone, but there's one problem - he got there so early, the NYPD made him leave for loitering.

The dedicated gamer, who goes by the name "Triforce," started waiting outside the Best Buy in New York City's Union Square...

Gamers love to get nostalgic for old games. But the danger of going back to the games we used to play as kids (if you were playing games in the early 80s, that is) is the inevitable crushing reality that they just aren't as good as we remember them. Beginning at noon on Saturday, Nintendo will have 3DS demo units set up outside at Union Square Park, so you can get your game on a good 12 hours before the device goes on sale...

Unlike the Wii and DSi, when the 3DS goes on sale in a few days, it will not launch with a full-fledged digital content store. The 3DS eShop won't come out until late spring, because as Nintendo admits, it still has work to do in order to compete with Sony and Microsoft. In a recent interview, 3DS project manager Hideki Konno discussed why the eShop was delayed.

"We definitely want to make sure that it's ready before we bring it out," said Konno, before pointing to the Wii...
