Resident Evil’s 15th anniversary
is in full swing, with HD remakes
and release dates for Operation Raccoon City,
and things are also picking up for handheld survival horror too. The February 7
release of Resident Evil Revelations for 3DS is getting ever closer, and a
whole new co-op mode got revealed for it today, along with confirmation Capcom
learned from at least a few of its mistakes with The Mercenaries 3D.
Tomorrow marks the US release of Sonic Generations, the game
that celebrates 20 years of blue hedgehogs by teaming up the 16-bit Sonic with
the current version. We thought it was the best Sonic game in years, giving it 8/10 in our review,
as it brought 3D Sonic levels to new heights of playability and recreated the
2D feel we loved on the Genesis/Mega Drive. So now that “Classic Sonic” is
back, this is only the start for the portly original, right? Not so, says one
Comics has announced a 10-issue box set collecting manga studio Akira
Himekawa's adaptations of the Legend of Zelda series. The set spans the
timeline from Link to the Past up until Phantom Hourglass, offering the best
way to catch up on the series' history short of negotiating any Water Temples,
formulating a position on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, or anything else
relating to the actual playing of the games themselves...

and that it would be helmed by gonzo director Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the

Nintendo’s quarterly earnings report continues to be the
news gift that keeps on giving. First we heard Nintendo suffered its first financial loss in 30 years,
then they revealed DLC and demo plans for the eShop,
and now comes news on the Wii’s successor. Apparently Nintendo will unveil the "final format" of the Wii U at next year’s E3.
Underwhelmed by Nintendo's eShop? Give
it time. Today, the company confirmed its upcoming firmware update
for the 3DS will enhance the online outlet with long overdue features
like support for game demos, DLC, and improved download options.
The improvements were outlined in
Nintendo's latest financial briefing, and are part of a larger
strategy to pick Nintendo up after one of its most disappointing
fiscal years in recent memory. According to the document, part of its
'Digital Business Plan' includes opening up its eShop to future
add-on content, something it says is “a feature a number of
software creators have been looking forward to...”
Sega's marketing efforts for Sonic
Generations appear to be paying off, as the studio announced
yesterday that its upcoming 20th anniversary title has
become the top most pre-ordered title in the entire hedgehog
Rayman and his sidekick Globox
will have at least 10 ways to traverse their colorful and wacky
surroundings in Ubisoft's upcoming Rayman Origins. How can we
possibly know this, you ask? Because we've been spending part of our
Friday fawning over the studio's latest “10 Ways to Get Around”
trailer—and yes, we're willing to share...
Capcom has released the
first image from its upcoming Ace Attorney movie adaptation. The sole pic accompanies the launch
of a Japanese-language promo site, with a release date set and the promise of a
trailer soon. “But it's one image! One measly little picture!” Yes, just one
picture of a live-action movie, based on a Capcom game, and looking just fine.
