The screens and videos we’ve been seeing for Sonic Generations put us on a rollercoaster of emotions. First we felt excited about the return of fat, 16-bit Sonic. Then we felt cautiously excited for stages based on Sonic Adventures. After that we were concerned at the seeing Shadow the Hedgehog appear. Following that was mild pleasure to see screens of a PC version, which was immediately followed by outright dread at seeing Silver the Hedgehog in the game. It’s getting to be too much for our emotions. Today’s new trailer featuring many of the bosses you’ll be fighting in the game has us moving back to into the positive side of the emotional spectrum...

  • Next month's Sonic Generations is trying to approach the beloved brand a little differently. Some of the game's levels will take place in 3D, as was the case with recent console Sonic releases, while others will go for a classic feel, sticking entirely to 2D and featuring a portly, retro Sonic. The 3DS version, however, looks special. Because of the system's limitations, Sega decided to completely eschew the 3D portions and to focus, instead, exclusively on classic 2D levels.

Sega has said in the past that this version will launch in November with the other iterations, but we're hearing rumors from a reliable source that it might be getting a delay in the near future, sliding past its original date to early 2012...

  • We suppose we all knew in our hearts that Activision was going to publish a game based on the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man film, but now we know for sure. Spotted at New York Comic Con was a poster advertising the title and, if the logos on the bottom are to be believed, it's being developed by Beenox, the team behind the last two Spider-Man games which were at best a mixed bag...

  • The list of best-selling games in the US this September was released by the NPD group today, and there were a few surprising entries, though it was mostly filled with the usual suspects. The top-selling game of September was technically Madden, but since that factors in sales across five different platforms, we're going to say the 360-exclusive Gears of War 3 is the real sales winner. Third place was taken by Dead Island, which is pretty impressive for a new franchise. Meanwhile, PS3-exclusive Resistance 3 had a good showing in the seventh spot; not bad for our game of the month for September. Here's the top 10 with no actual sales numbers as the NPD unhelpfully withholds those...

  • Yasumi Matsuno, creator of the Ogre Battle series and co-producer for Final Fantasy XII, has revealed the details of Level-5's compilation title for the 3DS, which is set to showcase works from some of Japan's most high profile game makers. The game, Called Guild 01, will include four separate games designed by Goichi “Suda 51” Suda (Killer 7, No More Heroes), Yoot Saito (Dreamcast's Seaman), Matsuno himself, and Yoshiyuki Hirai from the popular Japanese comedy troupe America Zarigani...

  • The new Men in Black movie might be experiencing production problems (word is the script needed mid-shoot rewrites, so you know it's good), but that hasn't stopped Activision from assembling together a team of highly-skilled agents to work on a game based on the franchise. Today, the Call of Duty publisher revealed that they're putting together a Men in Black game and aiming it for a Spring 2012 release date... as long as the movie finishes in time. You know, if they're able to find funny things for Will Smith to say as he shoots aliens and talks to a dog...

  • What we've got here is a case of good news/bad news. First we got our hands on screens of the just announced PC version of Sonic Generations. Then Sega releases screens that show Sonic's flashy rival Silver the Hedgehog appears in Generations. We'll give you a moment think about which of those things is the bad news...
