The Xbox 360 camera, officially announced at Microsoft's pre-E3 conference last week, can be used to capture motion just like Sony's EyeToy and replicate the same sort of gameplay experience as Nintendo's Wii, claims GestureTek, a company that specializes in “gesture based” technology.
GestureTek has devised technology that will allow the Xbox 360 camera to accurately capture a player's motion even down to the movement of finger tips. This, of course, could be used to interact with a game.
Whether Xbox 360 game developers choose to use this technology is another matter, but it's interesting to see that the capability is there for more than just video chat and that 360 can offer fresh ways of playing games.
