24 movie script gets the chop

Jack Bauer’s journey to the big screen has hit a major snag – 20th Century Fox have decided not to give the 24 movie the green light.

State Of Play screenwriter Billy Ray penned a script for the terrorist-fighting Bauer’s first cinematic outing, but Fox have apparently passed on it.

“As far as I know, it is in suspended animation,” the show’s executive producer Howard Gordan says of the film.

“There is talk about re-approaching it. I understand Tony Scott is meeting with Kiefer to talk about ideas. People are still talking about it.”

The producer adds: “I was disappointed [ Fox ] passed on the script, but I’m certainly hopeful that the movie will get made at some point.

“Anecdotally, I’ve heard from people who are really missing the show and I do think there is more life in Jack Bauer.”

Seems to us that Fox are the only ones not keen on a 24 movie. We wonder what it was in the script that raised their hackles so...
