GamesRadar pillowcase given away at E3 2009
More stash given away at E3. But this is particularly cool because it's actual GamesRadar stash. I didn't think we actually had any left, but we uncovered a couple hiding at the bottom of a drawer. Very rare. These pillowcases are the useless tat equivalent of legendary Pokemon.
We found this. It's a gun. None of us has any idea what game it was promoting. Lots of games have guns, so it could have been any one of a million really. If the police are reading this, don't worry - it's only pretend.
Tetsuya Mizuguchi's business card
As the man behind Rez and Child of Eden, he's one of my favourite developers. So I was most pleased to unearth Mizuguchi's business card buried in a drawer full of business cards. He gave me this when he was demoing the not particularly good Ninety-Nine Nights at E3 one year (maybe 2005?). What you can't see in the photo is the nice pearlescent effect on the card. It's pretty posh.
Mario ? boxes
A bit crumpled but still serviceable. We've got three of them. One of them is now up on the wall. People walk by and say "nice box." It's a good conversation starter. We might keep our magic mushrooms in it.
Some wool from one of Jeff Minter's sheep
How many game developers have their own flock of sheep? I have no idea. Why would I? But I do know that game-making legend Minter has his own flock of wooly beasts. I know this because when he visited our office in 2009 to promote Gridrunner Revolution he left a press pack. Contained within that press pack was some actual wool 'from the Llamasoft flock'. This is that wool. Bit small to make a jumper out of. But a nice, personal touch all the same.
Amazing press packs
Some press packs are too good to throw away. The amount of work - and money - that must go into them is astounding. These are just some that we rediscovered when moving all our crap. In the above photo are press packs for Infamous 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse, The Eye of Judgement, DC Universe Online and - the only non-Sony one - Tekken 6. There's little doubt that Sony's press packs are always the most lavish and gorgeously designed. Which isn't good for those of us with a hoarding disposition.
And there we are. 11 mostly amazing items of gaming paraphernalia that we found when moving offices. Hope you found it fascinating on some level. If you have collected any mostly amazing items of gaming paraphernalia yourself, please tell us all about them in the comments.
