10 ways to be an incredible team player in Bad Company 2

6) Fix in a firefight

Listen up engineers – this tip applies entirely to you. If you’re in a tank or armoured personnel carrier with your mates and you encounter enemy armour, hop out and start fixing straight away. You’ll repair much faster than they can damage your vehicle, making your squad-mates virtually invincible. If you’re tagged with a tracer though, it’s time to get the hell out of there… You have been warned.

7) Judge when to be helpful

Just because you can help, doesn’t mean you should. Say you’re a medic, tucked behind your mates who are desperately trying to blow up an M-COM unit in Rush, and you see the rest of your squad cark it. You have two options. Storm in with the de-fibs and bring one, maybe two of them, back to life (risking death and loss of position near the M-COM), or stay hidden and wait for them all to spawn. The best players will judge whether to help out, or stay safe and maintain the position.

8) Snipe responsibly

Confession time: we hate snipers. Nothing makes us happier than claiming the tags of a douche called xMeGaKiLLZx who sits in the same spot all match. You can guarantee he’s the man who treats every mode like a death match, and spawn camps while his buddies get pasted defending the objective. Don’t be him. Spot, support each other, and don’t be afraid to change class when needed.

9) Can’t drive? Don’t drive

Look, we know being in a helicopter is badass – but if you’re one of the people who take off and start flying backwards, or who invariably bank into the hillside, then stay the hell away from the chopper. Sit in the gunner’s seat and take pot shots at enemies, sure, there’s no harm in that. But don’t doom your squad to certain death by hopping in the pilot seat and screaming, “Hey guys, spawn on me!” Seriously.

10) It’s good to talk

Irrespective of the rest of the advice here, the most crucial thing that makes you a valuable part of any team is communication. If you plan on playing Battlefield to any sort of beyond-noob standard, you need to talk to your mates. Tell them how you died, where the sniper is, how many people are defending/attacking a certain objective, or simply if they’re about to get knifed in the back. It’s so basic, but you’d be amazed how many mutes there are in any given game.

this game kicks so much ass the only thing that sux is that u can only talk 2 who ever is on ur sqaud wich is 4, how can u tell the other guys where the enenemy is or 2 move , if u cant talk 2 every 1 , would make the battle go over more smoothly!!!!!

I think tagging is probably the most helpful thing people can do on a team. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've won games because the team was communicating and tagging enemies. I don't even think you need to talk on headsets as long as you guys consistently tag your enemies and keep everyone aware of where the enemy is stationed and moving. Assault classes should drop more ammo kits too. I think balancing out the squad classes is damn near impossible. Can you easily tell what everyone else in your squad is? And when they die, who's to say they aren't going to switch to another class? I think it's pure luck if you get a well balanced squad.

Really nice guide.. I had badcompany 2 for a while and a must say what a game. I Love me some call of duty but Badcompany just completed me lol. Another thing snipers are far from a useless class my speaciality is actually sniper next to medic and i find myself to be very helpful espeacially in attacking, Mortars are super helpful but i am looking for a well balanced team to play with anyone wanting to play with me just add me (ZGeneral) lvl 30 rank speaciality sniper/medic

This guide could be a considered a bible if EA made headsets mandatory.

the recon kit isn't useless, try sneaking around with a red military beret are a rpg strapped to your back. as a sniper you can blend in with the foliage with the help of the ghillie suit, but thats not all the recon kit is about, you help spot enemies afar for your team, mortor strike belding's and tanks. on some maps the recon kit suck but on laguna presa its really good to be a sniper.

great guide it has gotten me far in the game

It also annoys me when someone on your team gets in a chopper alone and flies off not letting you get in the gunner seat and you shoot and shoot trying to tell it to stop and let you in and they just fly off. Oh and team killers too. Like when you get on a UAV and someone shoots you in the back and you think oh an enemy got it then you see the gamertag and the person and they are on your team
  • lookin2pass - May 14, 2010 7:26 p.m.

You need to have teamwork to dominate in this game, so communication is key. The problem with that is, finding 4 gamers on XBox Live that don't give you a major headache. I'm not a Playstation fanboy or an XBox hater, I have both systems and they are both great. The thing is that the douche bag to gamer ratio on Live is about 500:1. I wish this wasn't true because the online gaming setup on XBox360 is much better than PS3 but there are alot more jerks playing on Live so finding the real gamers is almost impossible. If you think I'm wrong, give both of them a try and see for yourself, It's like a different game when you are working as a team and not listening to a few idiots spew nonsense constantly.

Forgot to mention: Recon classes. For the love of god, use motion mines more often.
  • civver - April 21, 2010 1:23 a.m.

Good stuff. People need to know #3,5,7 better. Everyone knows #4 know, I think. #6 doesn't help with a mortar strike. #9 is a bit of a Catch-22. One needs to drive to learn how to drive.
  • magicwalnuts0 - April 21, 2010 12:28 a.m.

Nobody does any of these things, oh and snipers rape tanks I don't know what your talking about you get 2 sniper to corner a tank with morters and its instantly dead.

@sklorbit first of all - stop using the word "noob" - it's become an overused cliché on the internet - stop continuing it. second of all - the sniper kit is very useful - unless everyone in your squad is using a sniper gun (if they are and you have a mic - let everyone know) - this is not that common, really - but still, the sniper kit has a great shotgun that you can run around with. Sniper kit's motion mines are great, too. But the best feature of the sniper kit is the spot assist - such a sweet feature that benefits everyone on your team when you spot an enemy - it's shown on everyone's map. Preferably I want to get platinum stars for every weapon - which'll take a while. This involves mastering every weapon in every class and getting a shiz loads of kills on every weapon or device. plus sniping from miles away with the 12x scope is in nowhere near easy. Great page! btw.

good guide for a great game, but there is a lot more tricks and tips for each class that u can pull off for tons of points and the big win i.e. when u are recon drop mortars on the m-com right after its been armed,if u are medic and your squad mate is down, shoot the guy who shot him first THEN revive him,if u go chargin in to rescue sombody without eliminating the enemy, you're just giving them an extra kill by shooting u in the face,if you're an engineer use the g3,its more powerful and accurate than any other weapon except the m16a2 (seriously, check the stats)and with gol magnum rounds it will stop any enemy with a few shots, theres loads more stuff but thats all i can think of at the mo
  • flare149 - April 18, 2010 11:05 p.m.

I try really hard to do all of these, but for the longest time I could not figure out how to freaking tag someone, so thank you so much GR! Another tip for players using the UAV, after you fire off a missle go hide behind a rock or a building. The UAV is really durable so if you drop really fast it won't really hurt it and then no one can shoot you down. Plus I've noticed that often it will reload faster if you do this.
  • IcarusLeonardo - April 18, 2010 9:06 p.m.

Yaaa the last one is abit...(impossible) dont know if its the people iv been playing with but no one ever talks even the ones with mics, and when i say something they dont reply.
  • FNG - April 18, 2010 7:47 p.m.

I only snipe and I don't care about the squad. I find out what my whole team needs and I adjust to that. My squad is just a mobile spawn point
